Company that had a totally great product that they've been working on for years (and it's so great, you guys! Just need a little more investment capital...) drags partners down, it was totally a surprise, OMG, they were really almost there guys, just dealing with a spurious patent troll lawsuit against a competitor, then totally releasing a great product!

funny, I just did an essay on rivian and it seems very similar...

I’m curious to see what comes of them. I havent seen ANYTHING relating to plans past Amazon’s 100k units....

I have a couple hundred shares of Wo rkhorse since they actually have been delivering products to companies. They’re banking pretty heavily on some USPS contract, but the fact that they have a couple dozen prototypes sold, in the field, doing work makes it worlds better than the other ones.

were those not part of the amazon order?

I’ve seen the prototypes. but I didnt find much in terms of plans after.,

is it going to be direct sales? dealers? what about servicing?

only think I found plans were: amazon order for 100k units. and we want to make a van and a truck.

thats kinda about it.

Far as I can tell, they’v e designed and are in the midst of prototyping a direct-to-consumer pickup and SUV. The fact they have multiple (read: tens or more) prototypes running around at this point tells me they’re <2 years to regular production if all goes well.

Amazon I believe is ordering some vans. I’ve only seen images of this, but I’m assuming the chassis or running gear is heavily borrowed from the PU+SUV. Guessing as a Rivian outsider but educated by general OEM industry  knowledge .
